Macy McClarin (she/her)
Macy McClarin is a creative and passionate graphic designer based in Gainesville, FL with experience in marketing, freelancing, and customer service. She is a third-year student pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Mass Communications from the University of Florida.
Macy specializes in marketing and merchandise design for the music industry and is interested in spotlighting the LGBTQ+ community. Inspired by psychedelic 70s band posters, 80s new wave patterns, and 90s feminist punk, her design work is vibrantly colored, geometrically ornamented, and distinctly retro. Macy freelances through Dark Magic Supply, her small business aimed at highlighting small bands, businesses, and events. Among her clients, she has most notably designed branding and event flyers for The Sapphic Party, Takeover Music Group, and Mel’s Kitchen.
She is currently working with Quail Hollow band as their primary graphic designer at Swamp Records, a local, student-run record label. In this position, Macy creates nature and conservation-based social media graphics, print posters, and artist merchandise to be sold at shows. Most recently, she designed the branding and merchandise for Quail Hollow Conservation Fest, a music festival showing a selection of local bands to raise money for conservation efforts.
In the future, Macy is interested in working in the greater music industry and honing her motion design skills. In her free time, she plays the bass guitar, bakes cookies for friends, and needle felts dolls of her favorite movie and tv characters.
